Murrurundi is located in what many believe is the most beautiful part of the Upper Hunter Valley at the base of the Liverpool Range, some 350kms north of Sydney and 95kms south of Tamworth.  Murrurundi is referred to as, ‘The Crown of the Upper Hunter’ and its current population is about 850.  

It is a great base for exploring the delights of our region, such as the Barrington Tops, Lake Glenbawn or Burning Mountain and is within easy reach of the historic gold mining village of Nundle.  

As a guide, we are about halfway between Sydney and the Queensland border and almost the halfway point on a journey between Canberra and Brisbane.  We are 1 hour south of Tamworth, Australia’s ‘Country Music Capital’, 1 hour south west of Gunnedah, ‘The Koala Capital of Australia’ and 30 minutes north of Scone, now recognised internationally as, ‘The Horse Capital of Australia’.
